Made from the same 8 oz. cotton cloth used in our Joe McCoy Sportswear Tees, the JOE MCCOY SHORTS / NORFOLK RECREATION are constructed using 100% cotton sewing thread. They feature an elasticated waistband for comfort and are finished with a single rear pocket. The NORFOLK RECREATION print is hand applied at our Kobe headquarters using traditional printing techniques.

By the 1930s and 1940s, barbell clubs and boxing gyms were common throughout the United States. Strength training had grown out of the earlier physical culture movement, and many local clubs formed around weightlifting platforms, boxing rings, and small independent gyms. As these communities developed their own identities, clubs often produced simple printed shirts for members to wear during training sessions and local contests.
